We build Legatio so that no one has to regret not leaving what they already knew they wanted to leave.
Why we exist
Legatio is born from a conversation that came too late. The idea is simple, telling your life should be as natural as sending a voice note over WhatsApp, the book should sound like you and reach the people it has to reach. No installs, no forms, no sitting down to write.
Behind it is a small team that takes care of the entire service, the bot that talks with you, the editorial composition of your book, the encrypted storage of what you tell, the final edition of the safety net for heirs and the support for anyone writing in with questions.
We work without rushing but with craft. Every decision goes through the same filter, that your material is safe, that the book sounds like you and that it reaches the right people exactly the way you would have told it.
How we build it
A service that will receive the most intimate part of a person and hold it for decades cannot be improvised. This is what happens behind the curtain.
Container-based architecture
Every piece of the system, the conversational bot, the orchestration API, the editorial composition engine, the internal dashboard, lives in its own isolated Docker container. Automated deploys per commit, immediate rollback on failure, identical environments in development and production.
Code in private repositories
All code is versioned in GitHub under private repositories with code review, continuous integration and full change traceability. Every critical function is documented and covered by tests.
Background processing
Audio transcription, prologue composition, full-book edition generation and the final edition of the safety net for heirs run on asynchronous job queues. The user does not wait, the system reserves time to do things well.
Our own and third-party APIs
WhatsApp Business messaging API for the conversation, state-of-the-art language models to compose in the author's voice, European object storage encrypted at rest. Each integration chosen carefully, prioritizing privacy and data sovereignty.
Multi-tier backups
Automated daily backups of the entire database, tiered retention (daily, weekly, monthly), geographic replicas within the European Economic Area. A service that holds human memory cannot afford to lose a single record.
Observability and operations
Structured logs, real-time metrics, alerts on any anomaly and audit of every access. Operations are designed to scale from the first hundreds of authors to several thousands without rewriting the system.
Privacy and compliance. Servers in the European Union, encryption at rest and in transit, GDPR-compliant, strict separation between author material and operational data. No data is shared with third parties to train models or for advertising. Auditable.
